All discs given a five-star review rating in the January to December 2007 issues of BBC Music Magazine will be considered by the jury.

 | All five-star discs are then listened to again and considered by each member of the jury out of which a list of 18 nominations are drawn up.

| JURY AWARD CATEGORIES |
 | The initial selection process for these four categories is the same as for the Reader Award categories.

| FINAL SELECTION CRITERIA |
| The nominations from the short-listed recordings are selected by the jury under the guidelines of "stand out" qualities in the following areas: |
 | Outstanding performance and overall sound
| |
 | Brilliantly conceived programmes
| |
 | Lesser-known repertoire brought to life
| |
 | Well-known repertoire revealed in a new light
| |
The Jury Award category winners are selected using the above guidelines and the jury's specific expert knowledge of the categories.
