Oliver Condy has an MA in music from Cardiff University, and studied the organ at the Conservatoire National de Région de Rueil-Malmaison, Paris where he won a Premier Prix. He was deputy editor of Classic FM Magazine from 2002, and became editor of BBC Music Magazine in 2004. |

Daniel read music at Southampton University, and worked on the editorial staff of Classic CD and Gramophone prior to joining BBC Music Magazine as reviews editor in 2004. He is author of a biography of Prokofiev and is currently working on a Historical Dictionary of Russian Music.

ANDREW MCGREGOR

A trained violinist and counter-tenor, Andrew read music at Surrey University before working in the classical record industry as a BBC sound engineer. He has since been a broadcaster for the BBC World Service, Channel 4, Radio 3's Breakfast Show and is now in his 8th season of CD review.

BERTA JONCUS

Born in Toronto, Berta studied and worked in Vienna as a singer, and
completed her Master’s degree at Bonn University. After working as an editor
at the New Grove Dictionary of Music, she completed her DPhil at Oxford
University in 2004. In 2007
she was appointed stipendiary lecturer in music at St Anne’s College and St
Hilda’s College, Oxford. |

DAVID NICE
Writer, biographer
Since starting out as a music critic on The Guardian, David has been treading a fine line between academe, music journalism and broadcasting. He has written books on Strauss, Elgar, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky. He completed the first volume of his biography of Prokofiev (Yale University Press) in 2003, and is currently working on the second. |

Emeritus Professor of Music at Huddersfield University and a specialist on the Baroque period, George is passionately committed to encouraging listening skills and has spent his life enthusing university students, radio listeners (co-presenting Radio 3’s Spirit of the Age), and others through the ISM (President, 1997/98) and adjudicating. |

CHRISTOPHER DINGLE
Lecturer and write - Birmingham Conservatoire
A lecturer at Birmingham Conservatoire, Christopher studied at the University of Sheffield, where he received the Chancellor's Medal for Excellence. He is author of two forthcoming books, The Life of Messiaen and Messiaen’s Final Works, and co-editor of Olivier Messiaen: Music, Art and Literature. He is chairing the Messiaen 2008 Centenary Conference.

JAN SMACZNY
Professor of Music - Queen’s University, Belfast
Jan studied at Oxford University and the Charles University, Prague and is a specialist in opera and Czech music. After lecturing for many years at Birmingham University, he has, since 1996, been happily occupied as Hamilton Harty Professor of Music at Queen’s University, Belfast. He recently edited the book Music in 19th-Century Ireland. |
